2 Days Cappadocia Tour from Istanbul

If you take a 2 days tour from Istanbul to Cappadocia, you will have more time to explore and enjoy the sceneries around.

On day one, you will visit the Devrent Valley which is famous for its fairy chimneys that form a lunar landscape. You will also have a chance to visit the Monk’s Valley and practice pottery making in Avanos. We will later visit the Göreme open air museum which is one of Turkey’s UNESCO World Heritage sites. And before the day comes to an end, we will visit Uçhisar Castle which is the highest point in the region before proceeding to the hotel where you will spend the night.

On the second day, you will be picked from your hotel in the morning headed to the Hallac Hospital Monastery. This church is popularly referred to as the Hospital Monastery because some people believe that the monks who lived here produced medicine which was used to cure the locals. You will have a panoramic view of this church which is believed to have been constructed in the 11th century.

You will then walk into Kızılçukur Valley (Red Valley). The Red Valley lies in the heart of Cappadocia and is one of the most scenic sites in Turkey. It’s filled with red-rose coloured rocks and you can go hiking, horse bike riding and squad biking around the valley. There are also unique rock formations and man- made dovecotes and rock-cut churches with ancient frescoes. From the top of the rocks, you will have a glorious view of the sunset.

You will then visit the Çavuşin village which is located between Avanos and Göreme. The village provides great hiking experiences and has old beautiful churches and rock houses that will leave memories in your mind for years.

Like all that is not enough, you will have a breath taking experience at the renowned Underground City of Kaymaklı. This beautiful place beneath the surface of the earth is where the early Christians used to hide from the Roman and Byzantine persecution. Although there are numerous underground cities in Cappadocia, Kaymaklı is the widest.

You will also get the chance to explore the rock formations in Çatalkaya and have a perfect view of the fairy chimneys while at the beautiful Esentepe village.

The last place to visit before you call it a day is the amazing Pigeon valley. The valley earned its name from the many pigeon houses carved by men into the soft volcanic tuff. The valley has some of the greatest pigeon nests collections in the world. Although pigeons are no longer as important nowadays, they played a very important role of making fertilizer in the ancient times. The valley is also great for hiking and you thus should not dare forget your hiking shoes. You will also leave here with a collection of stunning photos of the beautiful sceneries.

In the evening, all you will want is a soothing bath and a peaceful night will follow effortlessly. And of course, you will go back to Istanbul a happy soul.
