Let’s go for a walk and see what we can find.
Our first stop is a really popular monument: Dolmabahce palace.
Dolmabahce Palace is now a museum and its majestic structure located on the seaside of the Bosphorus in Besiktas.
It was a home of the final six Ottoman Sultans, as well as Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Turkish Republic’s founder.
So, it’s quite important for showing the different periods of time both in Ottoman and Turkey.
This palace is also rich in architecture: The Dolmabahce palace is built in white marble and has a basic European baroque style with an eastern touch.
This hybrid style will make you crazy!
Don’t forget the interior; Dolmabahce Palace is full of amazing objects. There are more than 50,000 items and some of them are 60 crystal candelabras, 52 crystal chandeliers, 30 bronze chandeliers, 142 ceiling hangers.
You’ll see its amazing decoration and energy and fall in love with it.
You’ll also learn its history, too, thanks to professional guides.

Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan Mosque
Here is another amazing monument, Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan Mosque.
You will not walk too much for this one, because it is located near Dolmabahce Palace.
Bezmialem Valide Sultan Mosque is known as Dolmabahce Mosque (Dolmabahçe Camii).
It was situated on the Bosphorus in Dolmabahçe, and has one of the most unusual architectures of all the Ottoman buildings in Istanbul.
It was dedicated to Bezmialem Valide Sultan, the mother of Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I. Bezmialem Valide Sultan died in 1853, and the mosque was completed in 1855 with the help of Abdülmecid I.
The round window style of the Dolmabahçe Mosque distinguishes it from other mosques.
It was the first time using that kind of unique windows in Ottoman architecture. So, this place is quite important for having historic “firsts” and architectural “experiments”.
