Let’s Start
At the harbor, our fantastic guide will be waiting for you. Following your meeting with them, you’ll begin your journey by seeing the first stop.
Neve Shalom
Welcome to the Neve Shalom.
Nearby the Galata Tower, the Neve Shalom Synagogue stands.
It is Istanbul’s principal Sephardic synagogue and the home of the Istanbul Chief Rabbinate.
More than that, it is also the Jewish Community’s biggest religious site in Turkey – Istanbul.
Marriages, burials, and Bar Mitzvahs (Jewish rituals) are all held here on a regular basis.
Meaning “Oasis of Peace”, this place’s peaceful and amazing environment will feed your soul with relief.
While the guide tells its story and importance, don’t forget to enjoy your time and learn new things.
Ahrida
Another trip will be to the famed Ahrida, one of the oldest synagogues of Istanbul.
The first structure was assumed to have been constructed in the early 1400s, but major harm was done by a devastating fire in the 1600s.
The Sultan issued an edict in 1694 ordering its repair. The piece was created in the popular Ottoman Baroque style of the time, known as the “Tulip Period” in Ottoman artwork and imperial life.
Years later, it was built in time, several times, and came up to day.
Its beauty is priceless! Aside from the synagogue’s unique architecture, don’t miss the expensive decorations, such as the bema (pulpit) built like a ship on a boat, which will make you remind Noah’s Ark.
No worries: guides will tell you the whole story.
Explore this lovely building and feel its amazing ambiance.
Ashkenaz Synagogues
Ashkenaz Synagogues is planned to be visited, too.
The Ashkenazi Synagogue is the only operating Ashkenazi synagogue in Istanbul.
Austrian Jews constructed the synagogue, which has a capacity of 400 people. Gabriel Tedeschi designed it.
The Ashkenazi synagogue in Istanbul was formally opened in 1900 by the Austrian Jewish community in Istanbul.
Its building and interior design are wonderful and we sure you will love them, too.
Enjoy observing it and see its living soul which still hosts Jews for religious customs.
