Blue Mosque

Hippodrome was a public area that used for chariot races in Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman era. It has been enlarged, adorned or improved in times, by different rulers from these three different empires and has succeed at standing still until our current time.

Obelisk – The Last Part of Our Walking Tour in Istanbul

In Hippodrome, on the wall of Spina, there is one of the most important part of Istanbul: Obelisk.

Its importance comes from the title of “one of the oldest monuments of Istanbul” since it has been said that it belongs to the date of B.C. 1400s; of course, it has been brought to Istanbul from Egypt later.

It reaches 20 meters through the sky, and with its hieroglyphs and texts in Latin and (ancient) Greek, it unites different pages of world history.
