Notre Dame d'Afrique. Church (125 meter-tall)
Our Algeria City Tour kicks off at 9:00 am when your guide will meet you at the reception. Our first stop is the impressive 125-meter-tall Church of Notre Dame d'Afrique. This church stands tall above Bab El Oued, overlooking the bay. Inside, you'll be captivated by its beautiful design and fine ecclesiastical architecture. It's a must-visit spot with a fantastic view!
The Casbah
Our next stop is the old city called the Casbah, also known as "The Citadelle" Here, you'll stroll on the bumpy, narrow paths and check out the old houses, fancy palaces, and mosques from the time of the Ottomans in the 10th century. It's like stepping back in time!
Ketchaoua Mosque
We reach to one of the most preserved Ottoman mosques of the lower Casbah and the first great building many people see, the 17th century Ketchaoua Mosque.
Historical Significance: The Ketchaoua Mosque has a rich history dating back to the 17th century. It has witnessed various periods of Algerian history, including Ottoman rule and French colonization.
We do quick stop to see the Mosque and continue our journey towards the Martyr's Square.
The Martyr's Square
Martyrs Square Algiers is a remarkable square. The narrow, winding streets of Algiers are a famous place for tourists, and the square is home to a number of notable corners that they admire to visit once they arrive in this city, and they believe that going to this square is one of the best things to do in Algiers. Travelers to Martyrs Square can embrace the vibrant street life, and soak up the rich history of this fascinating neighborhood and these features make it one of the famous squares in Algiers! We make our way to the downtown just off the main road of the Martyr's Square where you can see a large modern mosque in vivid yellow color and an ex-colonial church. After spending some time here, we head out towards Bastion 23.
Bastion 23
We move again to one of the most important, prestigious and historical monument of Algiers, Bastion 23 palace which is located in front of the sea . It is a set of three palaces (17, 18 and 23) and you are going to discover the historical aspect and enjoy roaming through secrets rooms inside it.
Lunch time
We go then to take lunch in a beautiful restaurant.
After lunch, we head past the mosque of the Fishermen and walk along the Seafront facing the sea. It just remind you instantly of the port of Marseille with colorful small vessels and you will also find set of beautiful European buildings.
Downtown Algiers
We continue up to the Downtown of Algiers past the grand French colonial whitewashed buildings and explore different districts of the town.
We walk past the most colossal building of the downtown, Grand Poste office which is a fine example of French-designed, early 20th-century Moorish architecture.
Botanical Graden of El Hamma
After finishing up with the busy downtown, we take the Algiers metro to one of the most inviting places in Algiers, the Botanical Graden of El Hamma, a large garden dedicated to the collection and preservation of wide range of plants, gigantic trees and a central area with fountains and lawns. It's a great area to escape the heat and relax.
Martyrs Memorial
Our next exciting place is the big Memorial to the Martyrs. It's super tall at 92 meters! This special landmark sits on a hill and looks over the whole city of Algiers. You can see it from different spots in the city. And guess what? You'll get an awesome picture if you find just the right spot. Get ready to be amazed by this important monument that honors the brave people who faught for Algeria's independence.
Return Back to hotel
At around 17:00 , you will get a transfer back to the hotel to rest and spend the night.
